The mission of Ferndale Youth Assistance is to strengthen youth and families and prevent and reduce delinquency, neglect and abuse through volunteer involvement.

Ferndale Youth Assistance offers free, voluntary and confidential counseling all year long to Ferndale School District families (including the cities of Ferndale, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge and Royal Oak Twp.) We take referrals from parents, teachers, police or anyone concerned about a child's welfare.

A little time each week. A little caring. A little piece of yourself, reserved for a special kid who n eeds it. And Mentors Plus, to put the two of you together and help you learn from each other.

Mentors Plus– People Listening, Understanding and Sharing. This program pairs a trained adult volunteer with a young person in a one-on-one basis to provide adult companionship and guidance to a young person in need of a positive role model. We need more adult volunteers to match with the many children we have on a waiting list. Please call our office at (248) 586-8700 to talk about volunteer opportunities in this program.

Help us make a difference in our very own community. Volunteers are the backbone of our organization; they are involved in every committee and program we offer. Your commitment is based on your availability, whether it be a once a year or an ongoing event. Please review the volunteer opportunities through Ferndale Youth Assistance and complete the attached application. You can e-mail the application to our caseworker, Gina Flavin, at flaving@oakgov.com or contact or office if you have any additional questions.
